Cotton fiber

Cotton fibers grow in a boll around the cotton seeds. These bolls must be harvested by a spindle picker or handpicked. The seeds then need to be separated from the cotton lint; a process known as ginning. Cotton fibers range in size from 0.5 inches to 2.0 inches. Cotton fibers are well-known for being soft, smooth, highly absorbent, and flexible, making them ideal for making cotton clothes. There are various types of cotton fibers discussed below. Cotton is a natural and biodegradable fabric, making it environmentally friendly. Linen is often compared to cotton, but the use of cotton is much more extensive due to its properties and availability.

Various cotton fabrics are created by weaving fibers using different techniques. Cotton comes in different types, including long-staple and short-staple cotton, as well as various natural colors. Understanding cotton fibers provides insight into their durability, absorbency, and smoothness.

Cotton Fiber Length

The fiber length contributes to the strength of the fabric. While cotton is recognized for its durability and absorbency, Egyptian and Pima cotton, with their long staples, are even stronger. The extended fiber length enhances the fabric's strength, making linen, with its long fibers, more durable than cotton.

Cotton Fibers uses

Cotton is commonly used as a fabric, with users worldwide. It is utilized not only for clothing but also in the production of hygiene products for women in the medical industry.
